Defend Fort Platz across repeated runs
Bonelords is a wave defense game with rogue-like runs and Souls-style combat. Each run sends you across the lands of Speghiem to protect the mystical Fort Platz against waves of enemies and bosses, and every run plays out differently. Eight starting classes give each attempt a different feel from the first minute, and you level your character's stats in whatever order you like, since every stat does several jobs. After you take down a strong enemy you pick a relic that gives a big, unique power boost, so no two finished characters end up the same. Between runs you carry progress forward: attributes, items and relics can be inherited from your previous champions as marrow, letting you build up a list of legacies and tackle tougher obstacles with better starting stock.
Combat that rewards timing and movement
Fighting is closer to a Souls-like or twin stick shooter than a simple defense sim. Dodging is how you move, and it grants invulnerability frames, so positioning is a constant decision. You can clash your own attacks against incoming enemy strikes to deflect them, and breaking enemy poise staggers them so you can finish them off. Every weapon carries both a regular attack and a special attack, which opens up plenty of room for personal skill expression. Movement has extra depth too: dodging into the ground performs a wavedash that gives you a burst of speed.
Building walls and traps under pressure
Fort Platz is yours to fortify. Put up walls and lay traps to slow and destroy the horde, and know that enemies will chew through your structures from the ground up. When those structures weaken and collapse, the debris falls on the enemies and on you, so sloppy building has a real cost. The build choices sit alongside your character build, meaning the run turns on both what you can do in a fight and how well your defenses hold.
Playing with friends
You can bring friends in locally with split screen for up to four other players. Remote Play lets people join over a distance on one copy of the game, so a group can defend the fort together without everyone needing their own copy. Controller support is included. Going in alone is fine too — the game scales around your own build and defenses either way.
