A fast 2D action roguelike

BlazBlue Entropy Effect is a 2D action roguelike built around fast, responsive combat and flashy combos. You pick a fighter and push through runs where each attempt hands you new moves, elemental effects and legacy skills to build around. The base game carries 13 playable characters, with 4 more available as DLC characters, and each one plays with its own distinct combat style and personality. Runs are shaped by procedural generation, so the route and the pieces you assemble change from run to run, and the game supports multiple endings. Free crossover content adds two indie guests: ICEY, who travels with the Narrator's voice, and The Prisoner from Dead Cells, who cuts through a Metroidvania-style zone with its own original story. That crossover plotline stands apart from the original IPs it draws from.

Playing together

Online Co-op is listed as a Steam feature, so you can bring friends into the action rather than running solo. Since each character has a completely unique playstyle, a group can split roles across the roster and cover each other during a run. The hundreds of moves, elemental effects and legacy skills give every player room to build their own fighter, so two people on the same character can still end up with different toolkits. Crossover zones like the Metroidvania-style area offer a shared detour with a separate story to uncover alongside your group.

Before you start

The game contains visual elements such as flashing screens that may trigger photosensitive epilepsy, so keep that in mind before long sessions. Expect a run-based structure: you will die, rebuild and try again, carrying knowledge and unlocked moves forward rather than a straight linear path. The tag list covers a wide spread — action-adventure, hack and slash, precision platformer, 2D fighter, story rich, post-apocalyptic and pixel graphics — which points to a game that mixes combat, platforming and narrative beats inside its roguelike frame.
