What TowerClimb is

TowerClimb is a difficult platformer with roguelike elements, set in a fantasy world where enormous towers of ancient unknown origin rise above humanity and stretch to the heavens. Humans climb them out of curiosity and usually die doing it. You play a weak human with an iron will to reach the top, running, climbing, jumping, swimming and flying through the tower's atmospheric and lethal worlds. Levels are procedurally generated, so you never play the exact same level twice, and random events and rare items can show up on any attempt. The platforming and climbing mechanics are built to feel tight and responsive, and the game rewards reflexes, skill, knowledge and problem solving. As you climb higher, new worlds introduce new mechanics, so your play style has to change with them.

Playing it together

TowerClimb has local multiplayer with a split-screen or single-screen option, tagged for up to 4 players locally. The game allows a maximum of 25 simultaneous players, but it only supports 4 controllers due to an Xinput limitation, so any players beyond that must use the keyboard. Additional directinput controllers can be remapped to keyboard keys with a program like Xpadder. Remote Play Together is also listed as a supported feature, which lets friends join over a remote session.

Before you start

Expect a hard game. The store text is blunt about it: hundreds of men will die before you have enough skill and knowledge to conquer the tower. Every death is recorded with a screenshot and a note of how that man died, so you can track each attempt and learn from it. The tower is tall and full of areas and secrets, and seeing everything takes a long time. Bonus modes unlock on top of the main game. The game is tagged with Gore and Violent content, so the deaths are shown rather than glossed over. It was made over 5 years by Davioware and Quazi, two brothers who have been making and playing games since childhood.
