A brutal cave run

Caveblazers is a challenging roguelike platformer set in a fantasy world. You play as an adventurer heading into a recently discovered cave said to hold unimaginable power. Each run generates new levels, so the layout, items, weapons and equipment you find change every time. Combat is fast and physical, with plenty of blood effects, and the game keeps permanent death, randomized potion identities and an RPG-style inventory system in play. Along the way you meet AI characters, friendly and hostile alike, tracked by an advanced pathfinding system. Friendly ones follow you, hostile ones follow you too, wherever you hide.

Playing together

The Steam features list Remote Play Together, and the tags include Co-op and Local Co-Op, so a group can share a session. The store text also mentions an Online Multiplayer Mod. Beyond that, the run itself is shared: you push through procedurally generated areas, pick up weapons and magical items, and deal with whatever shows up. Friendly AI characters can join your side, and the store text notes that you can make friends along the way and then watch them get crushed under a troll's fist. Between areas you face a boss, each one different and each needing its own approach, with life bars stretching across the whole screen.

Before you start

Expect difficulty. The tags list Perma Death, Difficult and Roguelike, and the short description calls the game challenging and brutal. Death ends the run, so progress is about what you learn and what you unlock rather than carrying a character forward. Potion identities are randomized each game, so you cannot rely on knowing what a flask does. Character customization includes unlockable hats, tunics, trousers, robes and more, and there are extra challenges that reward new items, weapons and perks. Daily Challenge Runs generate a fresh adventure each day with a fixed starting loadout and a set of traits, and you get one chance at it.
