Running an ISP inside a growing tower

Tower Networking Inc. puts you in charge of an internet service provider inside a tower that keeps adding random floors. Each new floor brings residences and offices with their own needs, so you decide where the network goes and how it gets there. You physically patch cables into switches, routers and data risers to connect clients, and you use a terminal console to trace connectivity, scan for devices, install server applications and troubleshoot problems. On top of the wiring, you host applications for activities like web forums, social media, streaming, digital banking and web hosting. The tower layout is procedurally generated, so each run hands you a different building to work out.

Playing together with friends

The game supports online co-op, where you and several friends run the provider together. The co-op mode uses a harder difficulty setting than the single-player mode, which is built around solo play. With more hands on deck, you can split the work across cabling, terminal work, hosting services and keeping an eye on the budget, though the store text does not define specific roles for each player.

What to watch out for before starting

Two rules can end a run early. Your board of directors enforces a strict no-over-budget policy, and going over budget means termination. Some clients also have service level agreements, and if one of those clients files a complaint, it is game over. Disasters such as power outages and cyberattacks land on you to recover from, so keeping clients reachable matters as much as wiring them up in the first place. The game is in Early Access, and the listed features still in that stage include online activities, malicious users, statistics monitors, equipment buying, an equipment trolley and network topology.
