What Toroom is

Toroom is a top-down shooter dungeon crawler with roguelike runs. You wake up in a fantasy world and your only goal is to get back to your bedroom, which means cutting through rooms full of enemies on the way. The world is procedurally generated, so each run gives you a different layout, different loot, and different enemies to fight. You move through several biomes, clear each room, and take on a boss at the end of a biome to unlock the next one. The game is 2D with pixel graphics and a twin-stick style of shooting, and it leans into bullet hell patterns once the screen fills up.

Playing it together

Toroom has local co-op, and it also supports Remote Play Together, so friends on Discord can join a run without everyone owning the game. Everyone fights side by side in the same rooms, splitting attention between the swarm of enemies and whatever the boss is throwing out. Loot is shared in the sense that you are all pushing through the same run together, so deciding who picks up what and who buys from the shops becomes part of the conversation. Coordinating who focuses the boss and who handles the adds is the practical way to survive the denser rooms.

Before you start

Expect a difficult game. The tag list marks it as difficult, and the bosses are described as hard, so runs will end before you reach the bedroom more than once. Loot is the main tool for getting stronger: there are over 70 regular, cursed, and ultra-rare items, plus more than 35 weapons built for specific biomes. Shops show up during a run and let you spend coins on items, weapons, and pets, so banking coins early pays off later. Because everything is procedurally generated, a failed run still teaches you the enemy patterns and which biome weapons suit your style, and the next attempt hands you a fresh set of rooms and drops.
