Mine, Craft, and Reach Orbit
Starship EVO starts with a crash on a planet's surface. You have to mine and harvest resources, craft better gear, and build a hovercraft to explore the surface. From there, you scale up production with an assembler, arc-furnace, and H2 farm, while meeting growing power demands and designing an efficient inventory network. The goal is to build your first spaceship and reach orbit, then explore the starting system to acquire a faster drive and better weapons. Along the way you manage fuel and oxygen, and you have to defeat the pirates blocking the Stargate before the galaxy opens up to you.
Building Ships and Stations
The building system lets you stretch bricks to the perfect shape and blend grid sizes from 0.125m to 32m, so you can build anything from small starfighters to massive dreadnoughts, mechs to space stations. You can paint everything and apply decals to make your builds personal, then share them on the workshop or explore thousands of community creations. Engineering goes deep with sliders, rotors, hinges, and pistons for cockpits, landing gear, and turrets, plus systems like artificial gravity, life support, mag-lock, and shipyard. You wire everything together and trigger logic with event gates and sensors, and you can design the interior down to every detail for you and your crew.
Playing With Friends
Multiplayer uses Steam friend lobbies, and the game supports Online Co-op and Online PvP. Be aware that multiplayer still has quite a few issues, so the developers suggest considering the game solo for now. Keep that in mind before planning a group session.
What to Know Before Starting
Starship EVO is in Early Access, so expect rough edges. The game covers Action, Adventure, Indie, and Simulation, with tags including Building, Space Sim, Open World, Voxel, Physics, and Sandbox. Once you reach the galaxy, you pick your fights: liberate sectors from pirates in the outer rim, or defeat factions for control toward the core. You visit space stations to trade goods and take on missions, build the right ship for the job, and hire crewmembers from several colorful alien races to be the captain. You fly seamlessly from orbit to surface, exploring planets and asteroid rings to find your own place in the galaxy.
