Design ships block by block
Cosmoteer is a starship builder where you lay out the shape and floor plan of your ship yourself. You place weapons, engines, hallways, and crew quarters one module at a time, and that layout decides how the ship holds up when shots start flying. The tools are simple to pick up but leave a lot of room to experiment. Creative Mode gives you unlimited resources, so you can build whatever you want without worrying about cost.
Crew, combat, and the galaxy
Your ship runs on its crew, who are simulated individually. They pilot, man weapons, and haul munitions around the ship, and how well they do that decides how the ship fights. They act on their own, but you can set roles and job priorities if you want tighter control. Battles happen in real time with a pause option, and they are physics-driven: modules can be targeted and destroyed individually, and ships can break apart into pieces. You can aim at enemy weapons to cut their offense, strip shields to open them up, or go for the reactor to finish the fight. Outside of battles, you explore a procedurally generated galaxy, take contracts from factions, fight AI ships, collect loot, and upgrade your ship.
Playing with friends
You can run the galaxy in online co-op with friends, building and flying together. When you want to see how your designs stack up against other people, online PvP offers multiple battle modes to test both your ship and your command skills. Ships can be shared through the Steam Workshop, Forums, and Discord, and a modding framework plus Workshop content keeps new weapons and modules coming from the community.
Before you start
Cosmoteer is in Early Access, so features and content can still change. It is tagged as difficult, and the ship design side has a real learning curve once you dig into how modules and crew interact. The game runs in 2D with pixel graphics.
