A destructible sandbox in space

Space Impossible drops you in the helm of a starship inside a procedurally generated universe where every object is built from tiles. Those tiles can be destroyed, created or changed, so fights are tactical: you can shoot out an enemy's engine, cut a ship in half, or pick apart a hull piece by piece. The universe is seeded, so entering a different seed gives you a different cosmos to work with. Movement follows near-real Newtonian physics, which means momentum matters when you turn, brake or ram. Multiple factions populate the galaxy, each with a dozen or more starships, and you will meet friendly traders, hostile aliens and space navies along the way.

Playing with your group

You can play alone or join friends over LAN or the Internet. In co-op you share the same sandbox, so one person can fly while others handle weapons, or you can split up: one ship runs trade routes while another takes military work. PvP is available too, so your group can turn on each other and dogfight with the same tile-based damage model. Because ships are customizable, each player can build to their own taste — swap in a different engine, repaint the hull, or assemble a ship from scratch using gathered materials and specialty labs at a manufacturing station.

Before you launch

This is Early Access: eighteen alphas are done with several betas still ahead, so features and content continue to arrive through free updates. Expect rough edges while the game grows. The sandbox gives you real freedom — explore unknown systems, prey on trade routes as a pirate, or work for the military — but nothing hands you a fixed path, so your group decides what the session is about. Trading posts let you sell surplus goods or buy upgrades, and manufacturing lets you turn raw materials into new ships and components. Bring patience for the physics: Newtonian drift takes some getting used to, and a tractored ship can be used as a shield or a battering ram if you handle it right.
