Build your own ships, block by block

Avorion is a procedural space sandbox where you assemble ships out of freely scalable blocks. Ships break apart exactly where they get hit, so a good design matters as much as good aim. Fit your hull with chainguns, lasers, turrets with autofire or repair beams, and system upgrades that let you carry even more weapons. You can also add hangars and command squads of fighters. There are no limits on ship size or complexity beyond your resources, and a creative mode lets you build without worrying about making it work. Keep an eye on maneuverability and energy requirements, and tune each ship for its job, from light explorers to heavily armored battleships with strong shields.

Play it with friends

Avorion has co-op multiplayer, so you can team up to build stations together and take on pirates and enemy factions. One of you steers while the other handles the guns, sharing a single ship as copilots. You can also split up and work on separate ships, extend your influence across the galaxy, and build an empire together. The sandbox lets you turn on each other too, so you can blow your friends apart if that is how the session goes.

Choose your own path

You start as a nobody at the edge of a galaxy torn apart by an event centuries ago, with an impassable ring of hyperspace in the center and rifts scattered across the map. The Xsotan aliens have appeared near the core, and rumors point to a metal called Avorion there. The closer you get to the center, the more dangerous and the more rewarding it gets. Along the way you can mine asteroid fields, haul over a hundred trading goods, found mines and factories that draw NPC traders, hunt enemies for coin, raid freighters, smuggle illegal goods, or scavenge wrecks for treasure and clues about the Event. Factions each have their own character, from peaceful to aggressive, and their ships and stations look the part. Hire captains to fly your ships, manage crews, weapons, hangars and fighters, and grow a fleet. Ship builds, station designs, fighters, turret designs and mods are available through the Steam Workshop if you want to expand your options.
