An island that runs on its own

DinoSystem is a 2D top-down survival and simulation game set on a procedurally generated prehistoric island. The ecosystem keeps running whether you take part or not: animals are born, grow, reproduce, age and die, plants respond to environmental conditions, water flows into puddles, rivers and lakes, and weather shifts the world around you. Predators depend on prey, herbivores depend on vegetation, and populations can grow, migrate, decline or vanish depending on what happens. There are no scripted encounters placed there to entertain you, so situations can arise that the game never explicitly planned.

Two ways to play the same world

God Mode puts you above the island, where you can observe and manipulate the ecosystem, alter the environment, control animals and experiment with the systems that keep it alive. Survival Mode drops you inside it as a human: find food and water, build shelter, hunt, fish, craft tools and learn to live alongside the animals around you. Both modes draw on the same simulation, so you are looking at the same world from a different perspective. The store text lists a Remote Play Together tag, but that tag is used solely to enable multi-device play and does not indicate any multiplayer functionality.

Your body is part of the simulation

Survival goes beyond managing an inventory. Food affects your nutrition and body composition, so eating too much can make you gain weight. Physical activity shapes stamina and muscle, and temperature, hydration, sleep and exertion all interact with your condition. Stay cold, hungry, dehydrated or exhausted for too long and your performance suffers. Around you, weather affects temperature and water, water affects vegetation, vegetation affects herbivores, and herbivores affect predators, so your actions can ripple through relationships in ways that are not always predictable.

Before you start

There is no single correct way to play: build a safe home, become a hunter, fish, farm, gather, explore, or simply watch the ecosystem unfold. Seasons, changing weather, fires, reproduction, aging, diseases and injuries all work together beneath the surface. DinoSystem is a solo-developed project in Early Access; both game modes and the core simulation are playable now, while late-game variety and the remaining God Mode tools are still being refined on the road to version 1.0.
