A prison job with teeth
DEATH IN UNISON drops you into the Corton Island Institute of Rehabilitation, an island prison hidden in the Pacific Ocean that holds society's most notorious criminals, many of them wielding supernatural abilities. You take on the role of administration, alone in an office, and your job is to fulfill duties that meet your employer's expectations. Failure is not an option, and the consequences are as unforgiving as the ocean surrounding the island. The game is played in first person with a retro, stylized 3D look that leans into atmosphere and psychological horror rather than realism.
Working the job with a partner
The co-op side is built for two players, and it works differently from most online games. Each of you ends up in a separate room, and the only way to coordinate is through walkie talkies. That means you are constantly describing what you see, what you need, and what is about to go wrong, while your partner does the same from their side. The co-op experience relies on voice chat as a vital mechanic, so a microphone is part of the setup rather than an optional extra. If nobody is available, the job can be done entirely solo as well.
Duties, outages, and the truth
Every day the prison suffers electrical outages, and during those stretches you have to defend yourself against a diverse range of convicts while still making sure your duties get done. Beyond survival, you will infiltrate prison network systems and solve puzzles to uncover the truth behind how the prison came to be. Expect a mix of management-style task work, tense PvE encounters, and puzzle solving rather than a straight run-and-gun loop.
Before you start
Go in knowing that communication is the core mechanic in co-op, so playing with someone you can talk to plainly will matter more than raw aim. The setting is dystopian and post-apocalyptic, with horror and survival elements woven into the daily routine of the job. You will spend time on routine duties and system puzzles as much as on fighting, so plan for a slower, tension-driven pace between the dangerous moments.
