What Eronoctosis is

Eronoctosis: Put Yourself Together is a two-player networked horror co-op game from Dream Toaster Games. You explore the deepest recesses of your mind, trying to put yourself back together while working out what this place is and who you and the other person even are. The realm has a meaning to it, and finding your way out means piecing things together as you go. The atmosphere is ominous and oppressive, with horrific and disturbing monsters lurking through the spaces you move through. Expect a dark, psychological tone rather than a lighthearted romp.

How the two of you play it

This is built for exactly two players over the network, so grab one friend and go in together. The tools are asymmetrical, which means each of you has a genuinely different job: one player lights the way, while the other holds the power to banish the nightmares. Neither of you can do the whole thing alone, so you need to stay close, talk to each other, and coordinate what each of you is doing at any given moment. Splitting up or going quiet is a good way to get overrun. There is also a collectathon element to the exploration, so there is plenty to hunt for as you push deeper into the space.

Before you start

The content warning is worth reading properly: horrific and disturbing monsters, an ominous and oppressive atmosphere, and pixelated genitalia. It is tagged as psychological horror and survival horror, so the pressure is constant rather than occasional. The game is first-person, 3D, stylized, and carries anime and dark visual influences alongside its LGBTQ+ themes. It is free to play, so the only real commitment is finding a friend willing to walk into the dark with you. Go in ready to communicate constantly, keep your partner in sight, and remember that your two roles only work when they are used together.
