A Story-Driven Hack and Slash

Hack and Slash Fury is a third-person action game set in a medieval dark fantasy world caught in a war between the Light and Dark Empires. You fight through stages full of enemies, and after each stage a cinematic continues the story. The game leans into a manga shonen style with characters that have their own lore and rivalries. The Story Mode is listed at 10-15 hours, and the game includes all downloadable content inside it.

Combat Built on Combos

The core of the game is a deep combo system. You chain left and right mouse clicks to build combos, and you pick between multiple combo routes depending on where you and your enemies are positioned. Holding the attack button charges a hit that destabilizes an enemy if you time it right. Filling the Fury bar lets you enter Fury Mode, which raises your speed but lowers your hit precision; ending it with the Special Super Movement hits everything in front of you in slow motion. Fury Attacks spend the bar on fast charged hits that extend combos. A full Fury bar also gives you a K.O. triangle, which kills any enemy in one slash but is wasted if you miss. You can turn auto-pointing off to aim manually, and you can switch between first-person and third-person camera views with a button press.

Playing Together Online

Hack and Slash Fury has an Online PvP mode for 1-8 players with crossplay across platforms. Players fight each other using the same combo system, plus zoning, evasion, and aiming techniques. The mode rewards players who have already learned the combat system in the Story Mode.

Before You Start

The game is built around a steep learning curve rather than easy repeated fights, so expect to spend time learning combos, positioning, dash, and the Fury systems. Enemy speed changes with difficulty: slower on easy for a more paused pace, faster on hard for a quicker one. Each stage randomizes its textures, sky, and music, so a stage looks and sounds different on a replay, and completing the game flips night and fog stages to the opposite. The soundtrack uses Heavy Metal Obsidian Shell music for stages and orchestral pieces for cinematics. Controls are mouse-driven with keyboard input for Fury Mode, movement toggle, camera zoom, and pause, and a gamepad also works. The FPS is not capped by default and can be set in the main menu options.
