A true-cooperative action RPG
FULL METAL FURIES is a side-scrolling action RPG from the creators of Rogue Legacy. You take a team of four fighters into a wartorn world that is battling itself to extinction, and the whole design pushes you to work together rather than compete. Enemies arrive with coloured barriers that only allies of a matching colour can shatter, so no single class can carry a fight alone. Everything you earn is shared, which means no fighting over last hits, gold, or health drops. The cast is Alex the Friendly Fighter, who counters and combos up close; Meg the Near-sighted Sniper, who plants mines and juggles enemies from range; Triss the Boxy Tank, who shields allies and sends enemies flying; and Erin the Ovally Engineer, who controls the field with turrets and a gun. Each class has its own skill tree, and you swap abilities instead of equipment, so a Tank can learn a FREEZING SHOUT, a Fighter can turn Leap into a POWER DIVE, and the Engineer can take a machine gun.
Playing together as a group
Up to four players can join the adventure, online, on the couch, or any mix of the two. Coordination is the core loop: you focus fire on the barriers your colour can break, and you pick up fallen allies because revive bars rise on their own but a helping hand speeds things along. The combat system is built around counters, combos, and coordinated takedowns, and the enemy roster runs past 70 types, each with its own tells and counters, so there is always something new to read mid-fight. Multi-stage Titan battles stretch across several phases and punish a group that stops paying attention. Between fights you push through the ruined snow-capped town of Thessaly, the Foloi Forest, the tombs of the Stygian Well, and more, with secrets, clues, and hidden dimensions tucked into the scenery.
Going solo and what to know before you start
Playing alone is a supported path, not a stripped-down version. The Pick 2 system lets you choose two party members and Quick-Switch between them to build dynamic combos and air-crit enemies, and the game keeps the nuances of multiplayer intact, so everything you do in co-op you can do solo. Expect a demanding difficulty curve with enemies arriving at a furious pace and new threats introduced in every stage. The story runs over 20,000 words across 8 languages, with an allegorical thread about atonement running under the action. Accessibility details are listed separately on The Family Video Game Database, so check there before you commit if anyone in your group needs specific options.
