Exploding Judo Federation is a fast 1v1 fighting game built around judo throws, where every grab ends the match. You close distance, look for an opening, and slam your opponent into the tarmac. Strikes exist to set up grabs rather than to chip away at a health bar, and there is no blocking at all. Movement, timing and positioning do the work instead. Rolling is central to that: a dedicated Roll button moves you in full 3D, so you circle, dodge and choose the angle you attack from. The control scheme is five buttons — punch, kick, grab, dash and roll — which keeps the input list short and puts the weight on when you press them.
How a group plays it together
Local versus is the way a group shares this game, with players taking turns or facing off on the same setup. The Steam features list Remote Play Together, so friends can join a session remotely as well. Online modes are not planned, so plan for people in the same room or connected through that feature. Between rounds the roster gives everyone something to try: 13 standard characters, 3 unlockable boss characters, a gun-headed goon who struggles against the champ unless luck lands him a random grab, plus guest characters Callowman from Duels of Fortune and Dana Zane from VA-11 Hall-A. Each character carries a super move — an invincible grab, a counter attack or a full screen laser — that seals the match immediately, so picking a character changes how you chase the winning grab.
Before you start
Go through the tutorial and training mode first. Since blocking does not exist, the habit of holding guard will cost you; instead you learn to dash, roll and grab at the right moment. Expect short, sharp rounds where one mistake ends things, and expect fights to get scrappy — the game openly rewards fighting dirty alongside clean fundamentals. For solo play there is arcade mode, survival mode and time attack mode, and the stages number ten plus the classic grid and a green screen stage meant for photobashing. The roster also includes a dabbing killer robot rebuilt into a bunny droid body and a giant kaiju robot with plasma chainsaws and a full screen laser, both canon.
