A fairy tale in motion

Child of Light follows Aurora, a young girl from 1895 Austria, who wakes up on the lost fairytale continent of Lemuria. The Queen of the Night has stolen the sun, the moon and the stars, and Aurora must fight the dark creatures to get them back and find her way home. The game is an RPG built with the UbiArt Framework, and the story is written in verse and rhyme. The world is drawn like a living painting, with hand-drawn scenery, iconic locations and dungeons that change as Aurora recovers the stolen lights. Along the way you meet eccentric creatures, from forest spirits and talking mice to wicked witches and evil sea serpents.

Playing together

Battles use an Active-Time Battle System, and you fight alongside the firefly Igniculus and other members of Aurora's party. A deep party system and varied skill trees let you shape how each character grows. A friend can join as both Aurora and Igniculus through seamless drop-in drop-out cooperative multiplayer, so one of you guides Aurora while the other handles Igniculus. Remote Play Together is also available, which lets a friend join over a connection.

Before you start

This is a side-scrolling adventure with turn-based combat, so expect a mix of platforming between fights and tactical decisions during them. The tone is atmospheric and story-rich, with a soundtrack that carries the fairy-tale mood. It is listed as singleplayer as well as local co-op, so you can play it alone or hand the second role to someone in the room.
