What Angels Fall First is
Angels Fall First is a first-person combined-arms sci-fi wargame built around team play and objective-based scenarios. You fight at several scales in the same match: on foot in ground firefights, in ground vehicles and spacecraft, and aboard fully operational capital ships with playable interiors. The game mixes modern shooter ideas like loadouts, customization and persistence with the frantic, fast-paced feel of classic shooters. The setting is a science fiction universe that has been growing since 2005, starting as a Homeworld mod and later an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod before becoming a standalone game.
How your group plays it together
The whole point is that your group can split across roles and still be in the same fight. One player can stand on the bridge of a battleship and issue orders through Commander mode, another can captain a frigate hunting in a wolfpack, someone else can fly interceptors or bombers launched from capital ships and stations, and the rest push objectives on the ground. Capital ships can be boarded: you can fight through spacestations, shipyards and vessels from the inside to capture or destroy them. Online co-op and online PvP are both supported, and matches run with up to 64 players. Full AI support means bots can fill in for missing players, so the same scenarios play identically offline and online — useful when your group is short-handed.
Before you start
Expect a wide spread of combat rather than one narrow loop: point-clearing infantry work, vehicle and spacecraft battles, dogfighting, and ship-to-ship boarding all happen in one scenario. There is a wide selection of weapons, tools, ground vehicles and spacecraft, plus deep weapon customization, so you will spend time figuring out loadouts that suit your role. The game leans on team-oriented tactics and objectives, so coordinating who takes the bridge, who flies, and who holds the ground matters more than individual fragging. Bot support and offline play let you learn the maps and mechanics on your own before joining a full lobby.
