What Wyldernook is
Wyldernook is a champion-led card battler where every turn is planned in secret and both sides reveal their moves at the same time. You are not reacting to what your opponent just did — you are predicting what they are about to do. Read their habits, guess their priorities, and commit to a line before you know if it will pay off. Matches happen in singleplayer Duels, in multiplayer Court PvP, and in a Roguelike Campaign. The world runs through seven factions, each with its own identity, and the setting leans on magic, medieval fantasy and corruption spreading through soil that empowers everything it touches.
Playing it with your group
Court PvP lets friends face each other directly, and because turns resolve simultaneously, the game keeps moving even at four players — nobody sits through a long queue of individual actions. Everyone plans in parallel, then the reveal happens together, which makes the mind games the shared part of the experience: you will all be second-guessing each other out loud afterward. There is also a custom Card Creator with a Rules Engine, so you can design your own cards and run custom games with your own rule sets. Building a strange card together and then testing it against each other is a fine way to spend an evening.
Building a collection
Your journey starts by defeating each of the seven factions to unlock their starter decks, each built around a champion and 40 cards — 287 initial cards in total. Beyond that, wins and campaign progress earn cards, plus free daily packs, and dust earned through gameplay lets you forge cards directly. Every card you forge or pull can be traded, so swapping with friends is on the table. Each card tracks its own history — games played, wins, losses, unique stats — and wears down at the edges the more you use it, which turns your favourites into visibly used objects. Stickers unlocked from wins and campaign clears, plus sleeves, let you customise the look.
Roguelike Campaign and things to know before starting
The campaign begins with a standard deck and layers in powerful relics as you explore, with storytelling moments where you choose between a path of good or a path of power. It currently runs through Chapter 1, with Chapter 2, Ranked mode and Leaderboards still to come, and card drops and art updates arriving on a monthly cadence — so expect the game to shift as it develops. It is in Early Access and is free-to-play with all major features available during that period, and your collection carries over past full release. Going in, the main adjustment is mindset: luck creates openings, but steady wins come from deckbuilding, anticipating your opponent, and iterating on the mechanics rather than reacting turn by turn.
