A short co-op puzzle voyage

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is a bite-sized standalone entry in the We Were Here series from Total Mayhem Games. You and one friend play in first person and work through asymmetrical puzzles, meaning each of you sees different things and neither can finish alone. You keep in touch with walkie-talkies, so talking clearly is the main tool you have. The game is linear and ends with multiple endings, and your run is graded on how well you solve the puzzles, so longtime players can chase a perfect score while new Explorers get a first taste of the series' co-op puzzle style.

How the two of you play it together

This is online co-op for two, and crossplay is supported, so friends on different platforms can still board together. The setup puts you alone at sea following a distress call, which leads to a deserted island and a mysterious boat ride through an abandoned amusement park. From there you take on several puzzling challenges that require communication, teamwork and trust: describe what you see, compare notes, and believe your friend's account when your own view disagrees. The state of your friendship directly affects the state of your friend-ship, and the puzzles are graded, so how well you coordinate shows up in the result.

Before you start

The game is co-op only, so you need a friend along; there is no solo option. Both players need a working PC-compatible microphone and an internet connection, since voice communication is how the asymmetrical puzzles get solved. Expect a short, atmospheric experience with a cute but mysterious tone, and be ready for endings that differ depending on how your run plays out.
