Two players, two roles
VR Giants is a co-op platformer built around an asymmetric setup: one person wears the headset and plays the giant, the other plays on the screen as a tiny character named David. Both of you sit in the same virtual world on one PC, and the game only moves forward when the two of you coordinate. The giant's job is to protect and support the tiny player, while the tiny player can climb and stand on the giant's body, treating it as a piece of the level itself. The campaign sends you through deserts, icebergs, lava caves and pastures to rescue David's lost sheep, with puzzles along the way that need both players to solve.
How you play it together
Locomotion works differently here than in most VR games. The giant does not pick their own spot in the world; instead, David walks onto buttons that activate new play areas and shift the giant's position. That makes the screen player the one steering the pace, and the VR player the one reacting. Goliath comes in different states you need to read: Solid Goliath is summoned by a single button press and can be released afterwards, Temporary Goliath only stays as long as David keeps holding the button down, and Fire Goliath is made from lava, so he must not touch David or any wooden objects. Getting through a section without dying earns you rewards such as cosmetics.
Before you start
The game is aimed at players of all skill levels, so it works for friends, family or a partner who does not play much. You need a 2m x 2m play area, and it should be set up properly before you launch. Expect to move around a lot in the headset: kneeling, standing up and going up and down are part of playing the giant. Take breaks if you feel any fatigue, and play on your own responsibility. The game is in Early Access, so content and details can still change.
