What SCP: 5K is about
SCP: 5K is a tactical horror first-person shooter set inside Area-12, an underground biological research and containment facility in West Virginia. The SCP Foundation has gone dark, and disturbing intel from the site reached the Unusual Incidents Unit, an anomalous branch of the FBI. The UIU operatives who arrived were ambushed and trapped by a facility-wide lock-down, so you are left inside without backup. Area-12 is now working on something new: weaponized hybrids of anomalous creatures. Your job is to find out why and stop it before those things reach civilians. The game is in Early Access alpha, so content is still being built toward a full release.
Playing it with your group
The game supports both co-op and singleplayer, and the modes cover a range of group sizes. Raid on Area-12 sends 4-6 UIU operatives into the West Virginia facility at the center of the events, while Ghosts of the South Gate has 4-6 players investigating a remote research outpost, NSIS-4 in Antarctica, after intel from the Area-12 operatives about a biological weapon. Discover Program and Weapons Testing each run with 1-6 players, Wave Survival Classic and Raid on Outpost Axiom with 1-8. On the competitive side, Outpost Axiom PvP runs 2-16 players and PvP Testing runs 4-14.
How a run actually plays
Combat is grounded and tactical: you vault, peek corners, breach doors, and customize your weapons in detail. Between fights you observe your surroundings for clues that complete objectives and turn up resources or intel. Lore is optional and self-paced — you choose which documents and audio logs to collect on your tablet, and which ones you find worth reporting over the radio to your ToC. Audio is built for awareness, with occlusion-based wall muffling and spatialized proximity voice chat, so sound tells you where things are and who is talking.
Before you start
Expect an unfinished project: this is Early Access alpha with a long road of content ahead. The anomalies you meet include SCP-173-B, SCP-610, SCP-3199, SCP-098 and others, plus hybrid experiments like Vx-026 Infector and Vx-349 Resonator. The game offers NVIDIA DLSS and NIS alongside AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution for visual performance, and supports ultra-wide displays.
