A fast vertical shooter built around speed

Raging Blasters is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up. You fly through the stages while bullets and enemies fill the screen, and the main appeal is the high-speed scrolling combined with the satisfaction of tearing through everything in your path. The presentation leans on pixel graphics and an anime-influenced style, so it has the look of a 1990s arcade game rather than a modern 3D shooter. It is a singleplayer game at heart, but it supports two-player cooperative play as well.

Two ways to play

Arcade mode is the main course: eight stages in total, and you clear the game by breaking through all of them. Three difficulty levels let you pick how punishing the patterns are, which matters a lot when the bullet density starts climbing. If you want a shorter, more competitive session, Caravan mode is a three-minute score attack. Your results are recorded both online and locally, so the scoreboard keeps working whether you are chasing friends or the wider leaderboard.

Controls and how co-op works

You control the ship with a directional stick and three buttons: forward shot, wide shot, and speed change. The button assignments can be changed to whatever suits you, so you can lay out a comfortable layout for a long session. The main weapon switches between a forward shot and a wide shot at any time, and the sub weapon picks up new items that swap it between five unique patterns. During Caravan mode, two players can play cooperatively on one setup, and Remote Play Together is supported, so a friend can join over a network connection without owning a separate copy.

Before you start

Expect fast-moving screens and a lot of bullets; the difficulty choice is the first real decision you make, and moving up is usually where the challenge becomes serious. It helps to be comfortable with the weapon swap and the speed change, since both are core to how you survive and how you build a score. Arcade mode is the place to learn the stages and the enemy patterns, while Caravan mode is the place to test whether you can survive the full three minutes with a score worth showing off.
