A horizontal shooter in a miniature world

Q-YO Blaster is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up where you move through a miniature world and try to stop the threat waiting there. You get peculiar characters, strange enemies, weapons, special powers, and a lot of bullets and explosions. The run is built around 10 stages with animated backgrounds, detailed pixel art scenarios, varied enemy sections, and confrontations against big bosses. Between fights you pick up improvements and perks, so each stretch of a run gives you something new to work with. There are also super special powers to lean on when the screen fills up, plus help from mystical beings. A CRT mode is available if you want the picture to look like an old arcade tube.

Playing it with friends

The game has a local co-op arcade mode, so two people can sit down and play through it together on the same setup. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join over the internet as if they were on the same couch. The arcade mode keeps the structure simple: work through the stages side by side, cover each other, and share the firepower when the enemies pile up. Classes differ between characters, so pairing two different ones changes how the run feels.

Before you start

Difficulty levels are selectable, so you can pick something forgiving for a casual session or turn it up if you want the bullet patterns to demand more attention. The game is tagged as singleplayer as well as local co-op, so it works fine solo when nobody else is around. Expect a dense, pixel-art bullet hell style: the screen gets busy, and the fun comes from reading patterns, grabbing perks, and pushing through to the next stage.
