What Racket: Nx is

Racket: Nx is a VR game built around one idea: a racket, a ball, and a giant glass dome. The walls of the dome light up with targets, and your job is to break them with the ball. The ball behaves differently from a normal one — hit it hard and it slams into the wall, then rolls across the surface and bulldozes everything in its path. That means a single well-placed shot can clear a whole stretch of targets, so raw power matters as much as accuracy.

Your racket has a tractor beam. Use it to pull the ball back to you, or to nudge it into exactly the position you want before your next swing. Between the beam and the ball's wall-rolling behavior, the game is about controlling the ball rather than just chasing it. It moves fast, so you need to be quick and plan a shot ahead instead of reacting after the fact.

Playing it with friends

The game has two multiplayer modes. In competitive PvP you play matches against other players, and in Co-op you team up and play shoulder to shoulder against the game. Both run online, so your group can get together for matches or cooperative rounds without being in the same room.

On your own, there are two single player modes: a campaign of hand crafted levels, and an endless runner mode. There are also monthly challenges, with a new level added every month, which gives a group something shared to compare runs on between sessions.

Before you start

Racket: Nx is a first-person VR game, so you need a VR setup to play it. Expect fast-paced arcade action rather than a simulation — the physics are tuned for satisfying, high-speed shots inside the dome.

The audio is a big part of the experience. It uses Waves Audio's Nx technology for positional audio, which helps you judge where the ball is by sound, and it ships with an original soundtrack drawn from Glitch, IDM and Psytrance. If that style is not for you, you can play your own playlist in game.

If you plan to stream or record, the game includes extensive MR support including LIV, plus automatic action cameras that follow the action for your spectators. It is also moddable and has a level editor, so there is room to go beyond the built-in content once you have the basics down.
