What N++ is

N++ is a momentum-based platformer where you move a small ninja through hand-crafted levels using only fluid movement. You dash, slide and jump to solve each level and reach the exit, collecting gold along the way. The levels are made by hand rather than generated, and there are 4,690 of them, so the campaign has plenty of ground to cover. Enemy robots roam the stages and are described as inadvertently homicidal, so avoiding them is part of the puzzle. The whole thing sits in a minimalist, colorful sci-fi landscape with 125 color palettes you can swap to change how the game looks between sessions.

Playing together

N++ has a Local Co-op Mode and a Local Competitive Mode, both for up to 4 players. Co-op means you and your friends work through levels side by side, while competitive mode puts you against each other. Remote Play Together is supported, so people who are not in the same room can join in as well. Alongside the shared play, there are leaderboards and replays for every level, including custom ones, which gives the group something to compare runs against.

Before you start

The game is built around precision and speed, and it is tagged as difficult, so expect to retry levels and tighten your movement rather than cruise through. There is no skill ceiling, meaning there is always room to improve, and the bite-sized levels suit short sessions as well as long ones. Beyond the campaign there is Hardcore Mode, an intense single-player challenge, plus hidden Secret challenges to find. A Level Editor and global level sharing are included, so the group can make its own stages and trade them around. The soundtrack is 63 tracks from electronic artists, and you can pick the color palette that suits you.
