What Mythmatch is

Mythmatch is a town-building merge game with an anti-capitalist story. You play Artemis, an aspiring goddess who gets rejected in Olympus and sent down to the mortal realm. There she finds out how her billionaire family has been hurting the mortals, and instead of fighting for her spot in the pantheon, she starts building relationships and a home with the people of Ithaca. The women are rebuilding while the men are still away at the Trojan War, and Artemis joins in. The game mixes grid-based merging, minigames, and a life sim narrative with a colorful, cute look.

How a group plays it together

The game is tagged as singleplayer, but it supports Remote Play Together, so a friend can join your session over a network and share the screen. One person owns the game and the rest tag along through that feature. There is also a Local Co-Op tag, so you can sit on the same couch and take turns or share the controller. Either way, the group works through the same board, merging items and pushing the story forward together.

What to know before starting

Expect a mix of merging and minigames rather than one single loop. Alongside the town-building, you take on challenges against four of the Olympian gods. These range from clear-the-board puzzles to turn-based auto-battlers, and doing well earns you their favor, which gives benefits back in the Mortal Realm. The story leans into satire and themes of community over capitalism, so the tone is playful but pointed. Movement is grid-based and the whole thing runs in 2D, so it plays like a relaxed puzzle and life sim rather than an action game.
