A Builder in the Desert
You arrive in Sandrock, a desert city-state, to take a job as its newest Builder. The world sits 330 years after the Day of Calamity wiped out most modern technology, so the town leans on people like you to keep things running. Your main job is turning a run-down workshop into a working production facility. You gather resources with your tools, process materials through a set of machines, and assemble parts into large structures piece by piece. Beyond the workshop, you can explore the surrounding desert, dig into ruins for Old World relics, and hunt down materials in hard-to-reach spots. The town also has hundreds of sidequests, over 30 characters with their own stories, festivals, and mini-games to fill the days between big projects.
Playing With Friends
My Time at Sandrock supports online co-op for up to 4 players. Together you shape the town, build large structures, take part in battles, and join mini-games. The group can also share romantic moments with the town's residents. Progress in co-op feeds back into your own character, with each move earning points that unlock new dimensions of your evolving character. Combat shifts quickly between melee and third-person shooting, with a defense break mechanic to use tactically or stats to simply power through fights.
Before You Start
This is a life-sim RPG with a long main story. One player reported being around two-thirds through the main story at almost 80 hours, so plan for a substantial time investment if you want to see it through. The game includes farming and fishing alongside the building and crafting, plus mounts, dungeons, combat, and a weather system, so there is plenty to do outside the main quest line. It takes place in a wholesome post-apocalyptic setting, and the world and characters are meant to be explored at your own pace. Whether you have played My Time at Portia or are new to the series, the game stands on its own with its own cast and stories.
