What Titan Quest II is
Titan Quest II is an action RPG set in a reimagined Ancient Greece, made by the creators of SpellForce 3. Nemesis, Goddess of Retribution, is corrupting the Threads of Fate and condemning everyone who opposes her to Eternal Punishment, including you. You take up a weapon, fight alongside gods, and try to stop her and free those she has punished. The campaign is handcrafted and built around exploration: you travel from beaches and Greek temples to ruins haunted by shades of the dead, and even into the realm of the Moirai themselves. Along the way you fight classic creatures from Greek myth and the original Titan Quest, such as ichthians, centaurs, gryphons, hippokampoi and cyclopes. Towns are full of life and intrigue, and the conversations you have and items you find can lead to surprising discoveries. Every ruin holds a secret and every statue a story.
Playing with your group
Titan Quest II supports Online Co-op, so you and your friends can take on the campaign together. Enemies form factions and work together, combining their unique skills and abilities, which makes fighting side by side a real help. Since each player builds their own class from two masteries, a group can cover different strengths and weaknesses and bring a mix of skill modifiers, attributes and items to a fight. The shared world is full of hidden groves with legendary monsters, strange artifacts carrying magic from bygone ages, and places where you might come face-to-face with a god, so exploring together turns up more than going alone.
Before you start
Combat is challenging: enemies are far from defenseless, so you need to dodge and counter their attacks, then overwhelm them with a well-timed flurry of blows. Rituals let you control the game's difficulty, which is worth knowing if your group wants a different pace. The character system is flexible and deep, with many combinations of two masteries to try, so expect to replay and experiment to find your favorite playstyle. Loot matters — every item serves a function and every class has many options for finding the right equipment — so inventory management is part of the routine. The game is in Early Access, and the roadmap is available to check.
