Fishing to keep a lake fed

GONE Fishing is a survival horror game where the fishing rod is the survival tool. An ancient eldritch beast sits under the lake, and every day you have to hand over a set amount of fish to it. Miss the quota and the lake starts collecting on its own. You can play solo or bring up to seven friends, and the beast does not care who does the feeding, only that it gets fed. The catch list runs to over 100 species of creatures, plus legendary ones like the Lochness monster, and dozens of live animals you can use as bait.

Working as a group

Online co-op lets the group split the job. Some people fish, others haul the catch back, and someone has to deal with the traders scattered around the map. Extra fish get sold, and the profits go into upgrades, better gear, and items from those traders. Fish can also be grilled, smoked, or turned into a pearl, and there is a gambling pit if you would rather risk the catch than bank it. Between sessions you can drink beer, play instruments, customize your characters, and explore multiple maps. Coordination matters because the quota is daily and the work does not stop.

What else is out there

The lake is not the only threat. Territorial beasts, stalking nightmares, and ambushing predators share the maps with you, and you cannot feed anything while dead. Learning which creatures live where is part of staying alive, and the game gives you the option to fight back — monsters and people can both be exploded. The tone is dark and atmospheric, played in first person. The game is in Early Access, so content and balance can shift, and the developers have a 1.0 planned where you get to fight the hungry tyrant directly.
