What Fishing Planet is
Fishing Planet is a first-person fishing simulator built by people who fish. You pick a spot, set up your tackle, cast, and work the line until something takes it. The fish behave according to conditions: over 300 species react to season, time of day, water current, bottom type, water and air temperature, wind, and more. There are 27 waterways based on real locations, each with its own climate, landscape, bottom topography, and vegetation, covering both freshwater and saltwater. You can fish with float, spinning, bottom, and trolling methods, and there are thousands of tackle and lure combinations with their own physical and hydrodynamic properties. Each species attacks and fights the way it would in real life, so the same setup can play out differently depending on where and when you fish.
Fishing with your group
Ocean fishing yachts hold 2 to 5 friends at once, so a small group can share one boat and fish together. The yachts come with rod holders for trolling, fish storage for large ocean catches, and Fish Finder 360 technology to locate fish in open water. Beyond the boat, you can set up your own Fishing Club and use the chats to trade tips and keep in touch. If the group wants something to compete over, there are online events and competitions with personal scores, achievements, leaderboards, and top-player lists, plus more than 1000 leaderboard combinations across different parameters with rewards on weekly, monthly, and yearly cycles. Daily Missions give everyone a fresh target each day with extra XP and in-game currency.
Things to know before starting
The Back to Basics update reworked the early levels: Lone Star Lake has been rebuilt from the ground up, other locations got improvements, and there are new missions. Anglers have an Angler's House to walk around and a Trophy Room to display catches and achievements. Weather and time are dynamic, with day and night cycles, changing seasons, rain, fog, sunshine, and ocean storms, and the water graphics shift with wind, current, and depth. You also have access to manual and pedal kayaks, regular and inflatable motor boats, and bass boats, each with its own speed, durability, and features. The game is free-to-play on all platforms and runs on PC.
