A Souls-like platformer with a race mode
Dank Subs is a 3D action game that mixes Souls-like combat with fast movement. In Single Player, you hack, slash, and dodge your way through enemies while collecting Subs. The combat is deliberate: you have a Stamina Bar that drains when you sprint, roll, block, or attack. If your stamina runs out, you cannot perform those actions, so you have to pace yourself. Enemies can stun-lock you and deal serious damage, so finding the level end before you get worn down is the goal. The game is in Early Access and still in progress, with more content planned.
How a group plays together
The multiplayer mode is called Find the Bernie. It is a foot race where you compete against other players to reach the level end first. The finish is marked by a floating orb with a Bernie Sanders cardboard cut-out. You sprint, jump over objects, and roll or air dash to beat the competition and avoid AI enemies. Other PvP players can deal a small amount of damage to you, but most of the danger comes from enemy AI. More multiplayer game modes are planned for the future.
Combat and survival basics
You can pick up Swords and Shields. Quick Attack is left mouse or R1, Heavy Attack is right mouse or R2, Block is "V" or L1, and Target nearest enemy is "TAB" or R3. Rolling while an enemy is targeted dodges in the direction you are moving. Chicken tenders and chicken wraps restore health when you press Interact, but restoring health also resets enemies that died. That means healing can bring back threats for other players to deal with, so use it strategically. Defeated enemies give you "subs" in a counter at the bottom right; subs will unlock special abilities that are coming soon. This is a free, fan-made game for fans of the HasanAbi Twitch streamer, and all content is stream safe with music made by the developer and other Hasan fans.
