Four-player superhero race
SpeedRunners is a 2D competitive platformer from DoubleDutch Games where four players sprint through a city and fight to stay ahead. The action is simple to follow: run, jump, and swing with grappling hooks while the camera keeps pace with whoever is in front. If you fall behind and drop off the bottom of the screen, you are eliminated, so the race is as much about survival as speed. The setting is a city full of superheroes, and reaching crimes first is the competition itself.
Fighting friends with rockets and hooks
The fun comes from the pick-ups scattered along the maps. Rockets, mines, bombs, spikes, and grappling hooks let you knock opponents off-screen or drag them back into the pack. Interactive environments and unique game modifiers keep races from feeling the same twice. A dozen hand-made maps are included, plus a full level editor with over 10,000 user-created levels to try. You can also make custom in-game trails that show up when you hit super-speed.
Playing together
SpeedRunners supports local and online multiplayer, and you can mix the two: two players on a couch against two players over the internet. Bots are available, so you can practice alone against AI opponents or drop them into matches with other people. A tutorial covers the basics before you jump in. The game is controller compatible and recommends using one. Beyond multiplayer, there is a single player campaign, and a character named Unic is included.
