A Family Fighting the Corruption

Children of Morta is a story-driven action RPG where you lead the Bergson family against the forthcoming Corruption. Instead of playing a single hero, you take control of seven different family members, each with their own unique skill sets. You have John, a protective warrior with sword and shield; Linda, a precise archer; Kevin, a quiet fighter with deadly daggers; Lucy, a fire mage; Mark, a martial arts fighter; Joey, who wields a sledgehammer; and Apan, a healer and defender. The gameplay mixes action-adventure, rogue-lite, and hack and slash elements as you battle through hordes of enemies in procedurally generated dungeons, caves, and lands.

Playing Together with Friends

You can play this adventure with others in two ways. Local Co-op is available for playing together in the same room, and Online Co-op lets you team up with a friend from a distance. The online mode supports two players and works in both Story and Family Trials modes. Since every warrior has a unique fight style, you can mix and match characters to cover different roles, such as having one player tank hits while another deals damage from range.

What to Know Before Starting

The dungeons are procedurally generated, meaning the layout changes with every adventure. Each dungeon usually has two to four levels and ends with a unique boss fight. Because there is no permadeath, you can switch between family members between dungeon runs. Progression is shared across the family, so leveling up develops not just individual characters but the entire Bergson clan. If you miss something, you can always return to previous dungeons to earn extra XP or finish side quests.
