A soft-body driving sandbox

BeamNG.drive is a vehicle simulator built around a soft-body physics engine that simulates every component of a car in real time. Crashes deform the vehicle accurately, and the damage model reacts to how and where you hit things. Dozens of vehicles are available, from compact cars to massive trucks, and most of the moving parts are adjustable: wheels, suspension, engines and more. You can take any vehicle into free roam and explore without a goal, or pick a specific mode and drive with a purpose.

Ways to spend a session

Scenarios give you a concrete job: a truck delivery that has to be fast and efficient, or a police pursuit where you try to outrun cruisers. Time Trials let you choose a vehicle, environment and route, then chase your own best time. Free Roam has no limits and lets you change environmental conditions, such as raising wind speed or altering gravity, which is useful for testing how a build behaves. The game ships with 12 open-world environments, including tropical jungle passages, barren deserts, urban boulevards and fast highways.

Playing together with friends

Remote Play Together lets your group join in from their own machines, and Remote Play on Phone and Tablet is also listed as supported. Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards are part of the package for anyone who wants goals beyond driving.

Building your own content

The included World Editor and level editor let you make your own maps, vehicle builds, terrains and scenarios, and the modding side of the game extends far beyond that. Players who own Automation can design a custom car and engine there, export it, and find it in the BeamNG.drive vehicle list. Camera Comfort, Custom Volume Controls, a Keyboard Only Option and an option to play without timed input are available for accessibility, and controller support covers DualShock and DualSense.
