Ride your own music collection
Audiosurf 2 is a music game built around the songs you already have. You pick a track, and the game turns it into a ride: the shape of the track, its speed, and the mood all come from that song. Because the levels are generated from your music, every song gives you a different run. You can search for music in-game, and the game runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Ways to play with friends
The game carries tags for Local Co-Op and Multiplayer, and it supports Steam's Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a connection. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score against friends and rivals moment to moment, even when they are not online. The Steam Workshop holds hundreds of player-made mods and skins, and every official mode and skin ships with its script source code and assets, so the community can build on them.
Modes and what to expect
Mono mode puts timing front and center: you plan to fill your grid during a song's most intense moments, watching ahead for corkscrew loops with powerups that mark those moments. Ninja mode is built around dodging, with a big bonus for hitting no spikes and dense spike fields to weave through; it runs faster than regular Mono, and Ninja Turbo is faster still. The Puzzle modes use Push, Shuffle, Erase, and Scoop moves on blocks, with timing that matters for multiplier powerups landing at a song's peak. The tags include Difficult, so expect a real challenge as you learn each mode.
