What Treadnauts is

Treadnauts is a 2D tank brawler where movement is the whole point. Your tank sticks to any wall with its treads, so you can drive straight up a wall and along ceilings without falling off. Boosters give you a hop in midair, slides run with zero friction, and rocket jumps launch you across the arena. The goal is to line up a deadly shot on the other tanks while staying mobile enough to dodge theirs. Arenas come in four playable zones, each with its own mechanics and physics objects, so the terrain changes how a fight plays out. On top of your main gun there are power-ups to grab, including laser guns, grappling hooks, and homing shells.

Playing together

The main mode is a competitive brawl for 2 to 4 players on the couch, which suits a group sitting around one screen. Online multiplayer is in beta and covers solo pilots or duos, so a group can split up and queue against each other that way. Remote Play Together is available if someone wants to join from their own machine. If your group is short a player, computer AI tanks fill the gaps at three difficulty levels. Between rounds you can turn on modifiers to change the rules of the match: zero gravity, slow motion, chaos mode, and others.

Before you start

Expect a skill curve. The tag list marks the game as difficult, and the movement tools reward practice — chaining a wall climb into a boost into a rocket jump takes some runs to feel natural. A controller is listed among the tags, so that is the setup the game is built around. There is a single-player Target Test mode with medals and global leaderboards for warming up your aim on your own, plus player progression that unlocks levels, maps, and characters as you play. The soundtrack is dynamic and changes every session, and the arenas and physics keep matches from repeating the same way twice.
