Two roles, one job

Superbugs: Awaken is a co-op game built for exactly two players. One of you takes the Scientist, the other the Hunter, and together you set out to save Mimi the cat from the Superbugs. The whole design leans on talking to each other: precise communication is the tool you actually have, and small wording differences can decide whether something works or goes wrong. The environments are colorful and stylized, but the enemies are varied in traits, appearances and behavior, so the game earns its difficult tag. Expect a mix of action, first-person combat, puzzles and dialogue-heavy moments rather than a straight shooter.

How you play it together

You can play online co-op or locally, and the roles split the work between you. The catch is that skills come with side effects: whenever one of you uses an ability to gain an advantage, your partner takes the consequence. That means your friend can become a bigger problem than the Superbugs if you are not coordinating, and good communication is what keeps the side effects manageable. The tag list also points to strategy and puzzle elements, so a run is as much about agreeing on a plan and describing things accurately as it is about aiming and reacting. Fast-paced fights and dialogue-heavy stretches alternate, so the sessions keep shifting between talking and doing.

What to know before starting

The game is tagged Difficult, and the store text is blunt about the enemies being annoying beyond your tolerance, so going in with a friend who will stay patient and keep talking is the right call. You will move through body-related stages: blood vessels, stomach acid to jump over, and brain tissues to mess around with, and along the way you uncover the deepest secret of your cat. It is a 3D, first-person, stylized package with a humorous tone, so the tone stays light even when the difficulty spikes. Two players is the format, and the roles are Scientist and Hunter, so decide who takes which before you start.
