A spy mission built for two

Operation: Tango is an espionage adventure where you and one friend take on the roles of Agent and Hacker. Each of you sees something different: the Agent moves through the world on the ground, while the Hacker works from a separate interface full of systems to break into. Neither side can finish a mission alone, so the whole game is about describing what you see, what you need, and what to do next. The setting is a high-tech near-future world with augmented reality, colorful stylized visuals, and missions that take you across the globe — investigating, hacking, and infiltrating on the way to taking down a global menace.

How your group plays it

This is online co-op for exactly two players, and a microphone is required — your voices are the only link between you. One person in your group owns the game, and thanks to the Friend Pass, a friend can join for free by downloading the Friend Pass on their platform of their choice. Cross-platform play is enabled, so you do not need to be on the same platform. The pacing leans on communication rather than raw difficulty: puzzles are solved by combining what the Agent and the Hacker each know, which tends to produce plenty of back-and-forth talk, both useful and funny. The Challenge mode added in the free content update brings a new area to explore, new puzzles, and new robots to hack.

Before you start

Set up voice chat before you begin, since the game cannot be played without talking to your partner. Expect to spend most of your time explaining things to each other rather than executing hard mechanical challenges — the fun comes from the exchange itself. It works well as a family-friendly pick: the tone is wholesome and playful, with a spy-movie fantasy rather than anything dark or intense. Plan for a session where both players stay engaged the whole time, because dropping out mid-mission leaves the other person stuck with no way forward.
