A factory and dungeon hybrid

Starground is a top-down automation dungeon crawler from Big Boy Games, currently in Early Access. You spend time on your home planet gathering and refining resources, then travel across the solar system to fight through action roguelite-inspired dungeons. The two halves feed each other: resources from your factory support your expeditions, and materials or rare loot brought back from dungeons strengthen your gear and your base. There is no correct way to split your time, and any path you take advances the story.

Playing together online

Starground was built with multiplayer from the ground up and supports online co-op. You can invite friends to work toward common goals or divide and conquer, with one group tending the factory while another pushes into dungeons. The game also works as a single-player experience if you would rather go it alone.

Automation and factory growth

Your island of resources starts small. You mine by hand and smelt manually, then work through a research tree full of unique machines that solve your logistical needs. Over time you expand into a formidable factory capable of handling whatever you throw at it. The systems lean on resource management, base building, and planning, with logic puzzles woven into the automation side.

Dungeon runs and loot

When you want a break from factory work, or while waiting on production, you explore dungeons scattered across the solar system. These runs involve battling enemies, avoiding obstacles, taking down bosses, and collecting rewards. Loot can be fed back into your factory or used to make yourself stronger through modular weapon crafting: a spear, a dual-bladed sword, a gun on a stick, and other combinations are all on the table.

Things to know before starting

Starground is in Early Access, so content and systems may change over time. The game is 2D with pixel graphics and a cute visual style, but the dungeons carry real danger. Since any path advances the story, you and your group can set your own pace and focus on whichever side of the game suits you best.
