What SRX: The Game is
SRX: The Game puts you in the Superstar Racing Experience, a racing league run with Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham, both 3-time Cup Series Champions and Hall of Famers. The racing itself is 700-horsepower short track action on a mix of dirt and asphalt, built around close competition rather than flashy extras. You can race against some of the biggest names in motorsports, including Tony Stewart, Helio Castroneves, Bill Elliott, Tony Kanaan and Michael Waltrip. The game has four different series, each with its own cars and rule-sets, so the driving changes as you move between them.
Getting to the top through Career Mode
The main single-player path is Career Mode, where you build a racing team from the ground up: hiring employees and drivers, and upgrading your cars along the way. You start out in the lower series — 305 Wingless Sprints, Stadium Trucks and Dirt Late Models — and earn your way up to SRX itself. Along the road you race on more than 50 additional dirt tracks on top of the six licensed main venues: Eldora Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, Lucas Oil Raceway, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, Slinger Speedway and Stafford Speedway. The Custom Car Creator lets you make your own paint schemes for your cars.
Playing with friends
You have two ways to race side by side with people you know. Local Split Screen lets everyone play on the same screen, and Local Multiplayer covers playing together in the room. For playing over the network, Online Multiplayer supports up to 25 players competing against the world. Remote Play Together is also available, so a friend can join your session from their own machine.
Before you start
The tags describe a realistic, physics-based simulation, so expect driving that rewards careful throttle and line control rather than arcade-style handling. A controller is listed as supported input. Offroad and dirt surfaces are a big part of the game, and the series differ in cars and rules, so learning each one takes some laps. Plan for a longer commitment if you want to reach SRX through Career Mode, since you have to climb through the earlier series first.
