A racing show built to blow up

Split/Second is an action racing game set inside a reality television show, staged on a made-for-TV city set that is rigged to detonate. The goal is simple: be the first across the finish line and become the season champion. Alongside the usual driving, you can trigger explosive events placed throughout the track. These blasts take out huge structures and towering TV set pieces, which changes the dynamics of the race mid-lap. The timing matters, because a well-placed event can reshape the track or open entirely new routes while you are still driving it.

Racing a friend on one screen

The game supports 2-player split screen, so two of you can race side by side on the same setup. Both players are in the same event-filled race, which means you are not only fighting the track but also watching for the moment your opponent sets off a structure ahead of you. Split screen keeps the competition direct: you see their position, their line, and the destruction they trigger in real time. The Steam features also list Remote Play Together, so the game can be played together remotely.

What to expect before you start

This is a fast-paced, arcade-style combat racer with a difficult edge. Expect to be driving hard while the set pieces around you come apart, and expect the track to look different from one lap to the next once structures start coming down. The destruction is not just scenery; it is a tool you use tactically, so the race rewards reading what is ahead and committing to an event at the right moment. The soundtrack is noted as a strong part of the package, which fits the high-speed, show-broadcast feel of the setting.
