Overhead action racing with a mean streak

IGNITION is a top-down arcade racer where contact is part of the plan. You ram, nudge and barge your way past rivals across seven unique tracks, from the Lost Ruins to Cape Thor. The camera gives you a smooth-scrolling overhead view of the whole circuit, so you can spot a sneaky shortcut or a rival hugging the cliff edge and send them into the gorge. The vehicle roster runs to 11 unusual machines, including monster trucks, jungle jeeps, the Bug for speed, the Redneck for style, and a bright yellow school bus for anyone who wants to drive through the opposition.

Racing together in the same room

The game has a two player split-screen mode, so you and a friend race head to head on the same screen without needing a modem. The split-screen keeps you close enough to nudge each other off the road mid-race. Remote Play Together is also available, which lets others join in over a network connection.

Before you start

There is a single-player side to race through as well: you take on computer controlled cars before moving on to the multiplayer mode. The seven tracks are described as some of the harshest circuits ever devised, so expect tight edges and rough terrain alongside the shortcuts. The overhead isometric view is the core of the handling, and the racing leans on arcade-style contact rather than clean lines.
