What Snowballs is

Snowballs is a fast, light-hearted throwdown where everyone is out for themselves. You start each round stocked with plenty of snowballs, and if you run out you can fall back on melee weapons to keep fighting. The goal is simple: hit other players with snow and climb the rating. The whole thing runs in Early Access, so expect it to still be rough around the edges while it grows.

Playing together

There is no teaming up here — everyone is for himself, so your friends are your targets. Gifts are scattered across the map and act as temporary bonuses, which means part of the fun is racing to grab one before someone else does. You can also build a snowman that covers everyone with damaging snow, giving you a way to control a crowd when the map gets busy. Steam lists Remote Play Together, so friends can join in through that, and the tags cover local multiplayer and online co-op alongside the mass multiplayer setup.

Before you start

The game is aimed at adults and children alike, and it carries a Family Friendly tag, so it works as a pick-up-and-play option for mixed groups. It's described as funny, fast and easy, which means the barrier to entry is low — you can explain the rules in a sentence and start throwing. Keep in mind it's tagged Singleplayer as well as multiplayer, and it sits in Early Access, so features and balance may shift as development continues. If your group wants something quick between longer sessions, this fits that slot.
