A Social Deduction Horror in a Chinese Mansion

Sinister Night 2 drops a group of streamers into an abandoned ancient Chinese mansion for a reality show livestream. The place is tied to a tragic ghost marriage ceremony where a family met a grim fate, and red lanterns still hang while food sits warm on the tables. Two of the nine streamers have already been possessed by the spirit of a bride, and their goal is to slaughter the rest and revive the ghost marriage ritual. The game takes its cues from the horror film "The Thing" and traditional Chinese culture, blending first-person exploration with tense social deduction. When the "Crimson Dream" descends, the possessed transform into the bride and the hunt begins.

How Your Group Plays Together

Your group works as a team of streamers trying to survive the night. You explore the mansion in first person, gather items, complete tasks, and collect location information that feeds into the deduction. Find offerings that can appease the restless spirits, or expose the possessed before they pick everyone off. Voting rounds let the group weigh the clues they have gathered and decide who they think is the mastermind. The game drops the fixed role assignments of Werewolf-style games, so no one is locked into a set part. Items, task progress, and where people have been all matter as evidence, and you have to read the situation and shift your plan as it changes. The Steam features list both Online Co-op and Online PvP, so the group can play against or alongside each other depending on the mode.

Tools, Tactics, and the Possessed

You have a range of options to work with. Place Zhong Kui statues to ward off evil, inject adrenaline to speed up an escape, or reach for night vision goggles, crows, compasses, and an EMF detector to pull in more clues. The catch is that the possessed are among you and can look like anyone, so a teammate who keeps waving an EMF detector around might be the one running the show. Keep an eye on who is pushing which lead and who benefits from the group's suspicion landing somewhere else. The mansion is a large space to cover, and splitting up to cover ground faster means fewer people watching your back when the Crimson Dream hits.
