What Ghost Hunter is
Ghost Hunter is an online PVE extraction game built around Chinese folklore, mythology, and Taoist exorcism. The spirit realm is invading, demons run rampant, and the Exorcism Bureau gathers Taoist masters to protect the mortal world. You take the role of an exorcist with supernatural abilities, heading into haunted and cursed places to hunt ghosts and demons, gather supplies and treasures, and purify the land. The game blends psychological horror with action, and it draws heavily on traditional Chinese supernatural culture rather than the usual ghost-hunting setup. You can switch between first-person and third-person views depending on the situation.
Playing with your group
The game supports one to five players in online co-op, so you can run missions solo or bring a full squad. Each player picks a Taoist master with their own abilities — some call on gods like Lord Guan or Master Lü, others cast spells mid-air or send flying swords into the enemy. Masters carry exclusive weapons such as the Green Dragon Blade, Peach Wood Sword, Yin-Yang Umbrella, and Willow Leaf Whip, each playing quite differently. Teammates cover each other in dangerous spots and take on exorcism missions together, including fights against powerful ghost kings. Since every master fills a different role, coordinating who brings what tool matters as much as aim.
Tools, spirits, and preparation
There are dozens of folk items, magical tools, formations, and pills to build a loadout around. Paralyzing Talismans freeze enemies, Willow Leaves reveal hidden spirits, Corpse-Suppressing Nails stop evil, Golden Blade Talismans break curses, Fire Curse burns enemies, and Rejuvenation Talismans heal. You also get items like Bagua Mirrors, Demon-Reflecting Mirrors, Sanqing Bells, Ink Lines, Thunderous Formation, Pojun Pills, and more. A core mechanic is capturing weakened evil spirits in soul urns, then training and upgrading them so they fight alongside you — spirit tiers run from low-level minions up to boss spirits, each with its own support skills. Pairing your captured spirits with talismans and artifacts lets you cover your weaknesses. Expect a difficult, violent experience with gore and zombies, and note the game is in Early Access, so content and systems may still change.
