What SCP: Labrat is
SCP: Labrat puts you in the role of a test subject inside an underground SCP research facility. A containment breach happens, doors open that should stay shut, and things start moving through the corridors. Your goal is simple to say and hard to do: get out. Along the way you pick up resources, manage what you are carrying, and come across anomalous objects that can help or ruin your run. The facility layout is generated, so the route you learn one time will not be the route you get the next time. The game is a recreation of SCP - Containment Breach by Undertow Games, a 2012 horror game based on the fictional stories of the SCP Foundation, and it keeps the original gameplay while adding new SCPs, items, and events on top of what already existed.
Playing it with friends
The game has both Singleplayer and Multiplayer modes, and Online Co-op is listed as a supported feature, so you can go through the facility together rather than alone. Splitting up covers more ground and lets a group gather resources faster, but it also means someone is always alone in a dark hallway when the noise starts. Coordinating who carries what matters, since inventory management is part of the loop and there is only so much you can haul at once. Multiple endings are in play, so a group that sticks together and a group that scatters may end up reaching very different conclusions to the same breach.
Before you start
Expect a first-person survival horror experience with violent content and psychological horror elements, tagged as Realistic and Physics-driven. There is a VR option: an immersive VR player with full body and physics interaction, which changes how you handle objects and move through the facility compared to playing on a flat screen. The game is Free To Play, so getting a group of friends into a run costs nothing to try. Go in expecting to fail a few times — the generated facility, the resources you have to scavenge, and the SCPs you need to avoid all push toward learning the space through repetition rather than reading about it.
