Running a restaurant from scratch
PlateUp! puts you in the kitchen and on the floor of a restaurant you build yourself. Up to four players choose the dishes, buy and place the appliances, lay out the kitchen, cook, plate, seat customers and deliver orders. Every location is procedurally-generated, so the layout, climate, customers and conditions change from one run to the next. The menu covers mains, sides, sauces, toppings, desserts and starters — soups, salads, steaks and pies among them. Front-of-house matters as much as cooking: seating, serving and keeping an eye on customer patience all fall under your team's job.
Playing together
The game supports online co-op and Remote Play Together, and up to four players can run a restaurant in local co-op. You can split the work so one person handles prep while another plates and a third works the floor, or you can play it entirely on your own. Between shifts the restaurant closes and planning starts: buy new equipment, rearrange the layout, change the wallpaper, hang art, and decide how the next day will run. Appliances can be daisy-chained together, which lets you assemble automatic kitchens with conveyors and turbo-ovens if you want to go that route, or keep things hand-operated.
Progression and structure
A run is measured in 1 hectic day at a time — reach 15 days and you unlock a brand-new franchise, carrying your unlocks and upgrades to a new location. Progress is permanent roguelite style: what you earn stays earned, and additional content and challenges open up as you go. You can push the brand toward gourmet dining or fine-tune it as a fast food franchise, and the restaurant itself expands and develops between shifts. Outside of service you return to franchise HQ to view achievements, customise your characters and upgrade your kit before the next adventure. Expect the game to ask for quick hands during service and careful layout decisions afterwards.
