A living post-apocalyptic sandbox

Plains of Pain drops you into a scorched wasteland where the sun itself is the deadliest enemy. Massive solar flares once vaporized Mercury and Venus, and Earth was left to bake. The powerful evacuated, civilization crumbled, and what remains is a brutal desert full of survivors scraping for food and water. You start as nobody with no past and no protection, just the will to live. Two factions now fight to impose order, each claiming to be humanity's last hope with very different visions for the future. Without reputation, you are nothing to them.

Playing together in the wasteland

You can survive solo, in co-op with friends, or on official and community servers. LAN play is supported too, so you can host or join locally. Groups build bases and settlements together using modular pieces, set up water purification and crafting stations, and grow into outposts with barracks and sniper towers. Craft anti-gravity hover vehicles from blueprints to cover ground quickly, each with storage, a fuel tank, and upgradeable speed, armor, and durability. Trading with faction NPCs earns Rusty Nuts and reputation, and cargo delivery jobs turn you into a wasteland courier.

What to know before starting

Survival means managing thirst, hunger, heat stress, radiation, biohazards, and fatigue while facing Overheat events, meteor showers, and bandits. Intro quests teach the basics, and NPC tasks scattered across the map offer rewards and higher skill caps. XP comes from killing, building, trading, looting, and questing; each level grants a Skill Point for health, melee, stealth, critical hits, trader prices, or firearm accuracy. Factions constantly fight over resource outposts, and with enough reputation you can capture them for your chosen side. The game is in Early Access, and bigger story-driven missions are planned for later.
