What Pixel Dungeon VR is

Pixel Dungeon VR is a fast-paced multiplayer social VR adventure built around dungeon-crawling, physics-based combat and general chaos with friends. It sits in the Action RPG and roguelike space, with voxel-style pixel graphics and a combat system where every hit, block and strike is driven by physics rather than canned animations. You pick a hero — The Witcher, Black Knight, Bird Man and others — and hack-and-slash your way through the dungeon with weapons like the katana, claws and bows that are meant to feel real in your hands. Boss drops give you legendary gear, so the loot you pull out of a run feeds straight back into your next attempt.

Playing it with your group

The game runs in 4-player squads, and you can also hang out in 10-player lobbies when the group is bigger than a party. Full game owners can host friends who haven't bought the game, so the whole group can explore the entire dungeon together without everyone owning a copy. That makes it easy to get a session going: one person hosts, the rest drop in, and you split the dungeon-crawling and boss work between you. Co-op is a Steam feature of the game, and there is a Prologue version on Steam if your group wants to try co-op gameplay and limited map content before committing.

Bosses and what to expect

There are four bosses, and two of them change the fight partway through. Skull King swings his axe at you, while Ghost Lord fires bullets that chase you around the arena. In the second stage, the Angel turns into a giant eye monster that fires lasers burning the ground beneath you, and the God of Time shatters the floor and drops everyone into a new arena. Expect the fight to escalate rather than stay static, so a group that survives the first phase still has to adapt. The game is in Early Access, tagged as singleplayer as well as co-op, so content and balance can shift as development continues.
